BLOSSOM EVENT VENUE

LOS ANGELES

A branded floral facade that metal panels couldn't tell.

  • Design objective — The venue needed its exterior to carry its brand story — a textured, non-repetitive floral pattern. Their original metal facade read flat and panelized, boxing in the design intent.

  • Why Corian — Fully carved, seamless, non-repeating floral geometry — freedom no modular metal panel can match — using reeds as the base layer.

  • Installation — Rainscreen system on metal-stud framing, face-fixed with screws and plugs for a fast, ventilated exterior assembly.

CHRIST JOURNEY CHURCH

SOUTH FLORIDA

A GFRC design, reengineered in thermoformed Corian — lighter, cleaner, hurricane-rated.

  • Design objective — The church, its design team, and ownership had a facade concept originally drawn in GFRC. MR Walls matched that design intent exactly while solving what GFRC couldn't.

  • Why Corian over GFRC — GFRC ran too expensive, too heavy, and too porous — a surface that stains and dirties easily. Thermoformed Corian delivered the same forms in a lighter, non-porous, self-cleaning white that stays crisp outdoors.

  • Performance — 1,000 sq ft of custom thermoformed Corian panels, approved for hurricane winds up to 180 mph.

  • Installation — Heavy-duty French cleats with rear-connect cleats — secure, concealed, and serviceable.

Jamboree Bridge

irvine, ca (IN CONSTRUCTION)

Corian cladding for a pedestrian bridge — engineered to be touched.

  • Design objective — People cross this bridge on foot and run their hands along it, so the surface had to hold up to close contact. MR Walls was brought in early to consult with bridge engineer TYLin on a facade built for human scale.

  • Why Corian over aluminum — Selected for coastal weather resistance (Irvine sits near the ocean) and repairability — a scuffed panel can be washed clean, or sanded and repaired in place, not torn off and replaced. Aluminum cladding offers neither.

  • Fabrication — 5000+ precision-cut triangular panels, organized and CNC cut  to wrap complex geometry at infrastructure scale.

  • Installation — Keep-Nut anchors set into the back of each panel: a fully concealed connection with zero visible fasteners on the finished face.

CHRIST JOURNEY CHURCH

With over 20 years of experience, Mario has built and designed beautiful homes that merge aesthetics, durability and constructability.

One of the few designers written about in Architectural Digest twice.

For over two decades, Mario Romano — a licensed contractor — designed and built some of the most complex one-of-a-kind facades in residential architecture: curved, flowing, non-repeating geometry. That work earned a rare distinction — Mario is one of the few people to be featured in Architectural Digest not once, but twice.

We've since engineered that hard-won knowledge into repeatable, customizable build systems for commercial application. The artistry refined across custom facades now reaches commercial projects as proven systems — delivered at scale, with confidence.

We've already solved the geometry. Now we deliver it at scale.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — MR Walls provides the complete package: attachment details, engineering, and submittal-ready documentation for your architect.

Yes. Corian Exteriors is a Class A fire-rated grade of solid surface. We coordinate the required fire documentation as part of the engineering package.

Yes. Corian Exteriors is a purpose-made, fire-rated grade of solid surface engineered specifically for ventilated facade systems — solid, non-porous, and colored all the way through, not a coating that can chip or peel. DuPont debuted the first significant commercial Corian exterior facade in 2007, after years of R&D and testing.

GFRC has real strengths: non-combustible, genuine cast-stone look, lower material cost per sq ft. But for sculptural, high-finish facades, Corian outperforms it:

  • Weight — GFRC demands an expensive support structure; Corian is roughly 4 lbs/sq ft.
  • Porosity — GFRC absorbs moisture and stains; Corian is non-porous and colored all the way through.
  • Repairability — damage GFRC and you replace a panel; scratched Corian is sanded and restored in place.
  • Color stability — Corian carries a 10-year colorfastness warranty; GFRC finishes fade.
  • Design freedom — Corian thermoforms into seamless curves that GFRC casting cannot match.

No — and there is a warranty behind it. In Glacier White and Designer White, Corian is warranted not to shift more than 2 ΔEab over the first 10 years — a change effectively invisible to the eye. The panels also stay free from peeling, swelling, and chipping for 20 years. Full colorfastness and warranty data available on request.

Most facades are built as a ventilated rainscreen. Within that system, panels can be attached four ways:

  • Keep-Nut rear anchors — concealed anchors with zero visible fasteners on the finished face.
  • French cleat — heavy-duty concealed hanging, integrable with Keep-Nut for a fastener-free face.
  • Face-fixed screw-and-plug — fastened through the front, plugged flush so hardware disappears.
  • Lap-siding — overlapping screw-fixed panels for a layered, shingled facade.

Exactly — and this is what most overlook. A facade is a skin, and how that skin connects to the building matters more than the material itself. The engineering of the attachment is where a facade succeeds or fails. That connection is what we own: we deliver complete, engineered systems, not just panels.

The Palais des Congrès at the Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Its exterior wraps roughly 8,000 square metres of Corian solid surface — the largest solid-surface exterior facade ever built. For scale, that is more than four times the size of London's landmark Motel One facade.

Some of the most celebrated names in world architecture:

  • Zaha Hadid Architects — Napoli Afragola Station in Italy.
  • UNStudio (Ben van Berkel) — the award-winning New Amsterdam Plein & Pavilion in New York City.
  • Alison Brooks Architects — Lens House, London, one of the UK's most awarded contemporary homes.
  • Richard Meier & Partners — a Pritzker Prize laureate.

Corian is light for a facade — roughly 4 lbs per square foot at half-inch thickness. The lightweight material reduces structural load while retaining the tensile strength to resist wind loads, which is often where heavy stone or metal systems blow the budget.

Yes. Our systems are engineered project-by-project for wind load, and we have delivered facades approved for hurricane conditions up to 180 mph and Miami-Dade impact standards. The material resists moisture, stains, environmental pollutants, humidity, and freeze-thaw conditions.

It is repairable in place. Even panels covered in difficult dirt or graffiti can be restored to their original appearance through cleaning and sanding — no full replacement, a major advantage over aluminum or GFRC.

Corian exterior cladding has been specified on over 100 high-profile projects worldwide — from the Zaha Hadid-designed Napoli Afragola station in Italy and award-winning towers in Sofia, Bulgaria, to the backlit Motel One in London and buildings across India, Brazil, Bahrain, and Azerbaijan. The Palais des Congrès in Abidjan wraps roughly 8,000 square metres of Corian — the largest solid-surface facade ever built.
