For over two decades, Mario Romano — a licensed contractor — designed and built some of the most complex one-of-a-kind facades in residential architecture: curved, flowing, non-repeating geometry. That work earned a rare distinction — Mario is one of the few people to be featured in Architectural Digest not once, but twice.
That hands-on experience led him to establish MR Walls, bringing the same artistic approach to architectural surfaces at a broader scale. At its core is his patented puzzle-piece InterlockPanel system, which brings intricate designs together as seamless feature walls. Working with materials including Corian®, metal and MDF, Mario combines sculptural form with practical construction.

Wave House

Venice, California
Designed and built by Mario Romano, Wave House transforms metal into a flowing architectural skin. More than 300 individually cut aluminum pieces form its white, wave-like exterior, sweeping from the roof down the facade. Combining digital design, precision fabrication and hands-on construction, Mario brought the movement of natural forms into a fully realized home.

At Preston House, Mario explored metal’s ability to reflect light and create movement. Custom-cut aluminum strips curve across the roof and facade, catching the changing colors of the sky. The sculptural exterior demonstrates his approach to building: bringing expressive geometry, material exploration and practical construction together in a distinctive residence.

At San Vicente, Mario brought sculptural architecture, carved surfaces and integrated backlighting system together in a complete residential design-build project. A dramatic two-story exterior and illuminated interior feature wall showcase his exploration of texture, depth and material. The home connects his residential building experience with the architectural surfaces that became the focus of MR Walls.
