Elevator Lobby

At Virginia Tech Gilbert Street, carved wall surfaces bring depth and movement

to the elevator lobby. Flowing patterns frame the elevator doors, creating a sculptural backdrop with light and shadow revealing the detail of the relief.

Carved detail, architectural scale

White relief surfaces extend around the elevator openings and along the lobby walls. Layered, contour-like lines give the space a continuous visual rhythm, while lighting above the walls brings out the carved texture.

An arrival space with dimension

The restrained white palette keeps the focus on pattern and depth. Seen from across the lobby or up close, the carved surfaces turn an everyday circulation space into a distinctive architectural experience.
