Facade
2,500 Unique Triangular
Corian® PANELS
Up close, the cladding reveals a mosaic of over 2,500 individually shaped triangles, each precision-fabricated by M|R Walls. The panels are mirrored for a total of approximately 5,000.
Traditional fabrication techniques simply wouldn’t work at this scale or level of complexity. Each panel is crafted from grey Corian® solid surface and CNC-machined for a perfect fit. We developed proprietary algorithmic software to digitally map, number, and draw every unique piece, ensuring each panel’s geometry was translated flawlessly for CNC production.
ALGORITHMIC DESIGN AND SEAMLESS ASSEMBLY
One of the most exciting challenges was realizing the architect’s vision of an undulating, seamless facade. Digital modeling was crucial for planning the invisible connections and intricate geometry. The attachment system utilizes custom L-metals, securing every panel from within the bridge’s substructure.
The cladding will be installed from within the bridge itself, an approach that eliminates all visible fasteners and makes the geometric form clean, uninterrupted, and striking from every angle.
LIGHT, SHADOW AND MOVEMENT
As light passes through select triangular Corian® panels, the bridge becomes an ever-changing artwork, casting geometric patterns onto the surrounding space. The interplay of material, geometry, and natural light elevates the pedestrian experience to something truly extraordinary.
At M|R Walls, every project is an opportunity to blur the line between art and architecture. The Jamboree-Michelson Pedestrian Bridge, brought to life with the vision of architect firm TY Lin, stands as a testament to what’s possible with creativity, collaboration, and technology—reminding us that even the most utilitarian structures can become works of art.
